    2025 - 2026 O'Connell Application

    This scholarship is an award given to high school seniors to recognize their academic achievement. The scholarship covers tuition and fees only, up to and including 15 credits per semester, for two academic years (fall and spring semesters only) of Full-time Study at Harford Community College. The scholarship is competitive and the number of scholarships awarded each year is limited.
    THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS must be submitted by January 24,2025:
    • HCPS OFFICIAL High School Transcript – Request your transcript through Naviance to be sent to HCC. Contact your HCPS counselor if you need assistance.
    • HOMESCHOOL OFFICIAL High School Transcript - Emailed to scholarships@harford.edu by authorized school official or mailed in a Sealed School Envelope - must include SEAL/STAMP of parent school

    * It is the STUDENT’S responsibility to request the OFFICIAL high school transcript.  HCC is not responsible for transcripts received after deadline if submitted by mail.
    Requirements
    1. You must be a Harford County resident.
    2. Your cumulative high school grade point average must be at least 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 unweighted scale. Grade point averages are calculated through 11th grade only.  
    3. You must apply to Harford Community College as a full-time student seeking a degree. If you were previously a dually enrolled high school student at HCC, you do not need to submit a new application for Fall 2024. Please contact admissions if you have any questions, admissions@harford.edu

    • January 24, 2025 - Application & all materials are due to the Financial Aid Office
    • February 22, 2025 - Essay writing date*  (March 1, 2025 - Snow date for essay writing)

    * If you are selected to participate in the essay writing portion of the scholarship competition and need disability-related accommodations, please contact the Office of Accessibility at 443-412-2402 at least 10 working days in advance.

    All qualified candidates must write a 400 – 500-word essay on a designated topic on Saturday, February 22, 2024You will be notified approximately 1 week after the application closes BY EMAIL of your eligibility to participate in the essay writing based on an evaluation of your application package.
